Featured Channels

Documentation

Everything you can do with Featured Channels, from the first install to chat commands and Pro.

Getting started

  1. Install Featured Channels from the Twitch Extensions directory.
  2. In your Creator Dashboard, go to Extensions → My Extensions and activate it as a panel, overlay or component. You can use a panel and an overlay at the same time.
  3. Open the extension's settings (the gear icon), add channels and click Save changes.

Viewers see changes right away, without reloading the page. The settings page has a live preview that shows exactly what viewers get, for the panel and the overlay.

Where it shows

ViewWhat viewers see
PanelA list under your stream: avatar, name, live status and a Follow button per channel. Clicking a channel opens it.
MobileThe same list, in the Twitch mobile app.
Video overlayChannel buttons over the video, shown while the viewer hovers the player. With Pro, also placed boxes and on-demand showing.
ComponentThe list in a resizable box over the video.

Channels and teams

  • Type a channel name and press Enter or comma. Names Twitch doesn't know are flagged and not saved.
  • Drag channels to set the order, or focus one and use Alt + arrow keys.
  • Add a Twitch Team to feature every member. New members show up automatically.
  • Up to 100 channels. Sorting can keep your order, go A–Z or Z–A, shuffle, or put live channels first.

Appearance

  • Title and subtitle above the list. Left as default, they appear in each viewer's language.
  • Theme: follow each viewer's Twitch light/dark mode, or force dark or light. PRO Custom colors and gradients.
  • Accent color for the Follow button, highlights and focus.
  • Layout: rounded corners, hide avatars or links, equal-width overlay buttons, overlay at the top or bottom, button alignment, live status.
  • How long the overlay shows after you save new settings (0–30 seconds).
  • PRO Fonts: any Google Font, a separate one for the title, and text size.

Follow alerts

When a viewer follows a featured channel through the extension, everyone watching sees a short "just followed!" bubble on that channel. It shows the follower's name if they shared their identity with the extension, otherwise "Someone".

Alerts are limited to one per viewer per channel per minute and ten per minute for your channel, so they can't be spammed. You can turn them off in Appearance.

Bits spotlight

Right after following, a viewer can use Bits (100, 250 or 500, as you choose) to show everyone a highlighted "just followed!" with their name for a few seconds. On the overlay, it also briefly reveals the channel buttons.

It needs Bits in Extensions on your channel, so you must be an Affiliate or Partner. The Bits go to you, like any Bits in extensions.

Chatbot commands

Let your mods change the featured channels from chat. In the Chatbot tab of the settings, copy the command for your bot and paste it in chat:

  • Nightbot and StreamElements: ready-made !featured commands, moderators only.
  • Other bots: call your command link with the command text at the end, for example …/bot/<token>/name1,name2. The reply is plain text for the bot to print.
In chatWhat it does
!featuredShows the current list
!featured name1, name2, name3Replaces the channel list
!featured -Clears the channel list
!featured team/teamnameSets the team (team/- removes it)
!featured title=Raid train!Changes the title (also subtitle=)
!featured show / show 60PRO Shows the overlay to everyone for 30 (or 5–600) seconds
!featured show onPRO Keeps the overlay shown until hide
!featured hidePRO Hides the overlay

Turn on Announce in chat to have the extension post the new list in chat after a change.

Anyone with your command link can change your list. If it leaks, click Regenerate link in the Chatbot tab and update your bot. The old link stops working immediately.

Stream Deck and other tools

The command link is a normal web address, so anything that can open a URL can use it: a Stream Deck Website action (with "GET request in background"), Touch Portal, Streamer.bot, or a script.

https://featuredchannels.furious.pro/bot/<token>/show 30
https://featuredchannels.furious.pro/bot/<token>/name1,name2,name3

Everything you can call is described in the API reference, where you can also try it.

Pro PRO

Subscribe to FURiOUS on Twitch (any tier) with your broadcaster account to help cover the server costs and unlock every Pro feature. In the settings, click Check again after subscribing. The subscription is re-checked daily, and Pro stays on for 48 hours if Twitch can't be reached.

  • Custom theme: background, channel rows and Follow button, each a solid color or a gradient; text colors; row opacity.
  • Fonts: any Google Font, a separate title font, and text size.
  • Placed boxes on the video overlay (below).
  • Show the overlay on demand from the Customise Overlay tab, chat or a Stream Deck: for a while, until hidden, or hide it.

If the subscription ends, your settings are kept but Pro options fall back to the standard look until you subscribe again.

Placed boxes

In Customise Overlay, put a box over each featured channel's spot in your stream layout, such as a guest's webcam or name tag. Viewers see "Follow {name}" on it and click the box to follow.

  1. Click Use a screenshot and pick a screenshot of your stream, so you can see your layout behind the boxes.
  2. Add a box per channel, or A box for every channel.
  3. Drag to move, drag the corner to resize. Arrow keys move the selected box, Alt + arrows resize it.
  4. Choose what the overlay shows: the boxes, the channel list, or both.
  5. Style them: border with the name on top, or the name only; box color, name text color, border width, fill and glow.

Boxes are placed relative to the video picture, so they line up at any player size, in theatre mode and fullscreen.

Placing boxes from code PRO

Set the placed boxes from a script, a Stream Deck or any tool, with your command link's token. Send a JSON array with each box's channel, position and size, as percent of the video picture: x/y is the top-left corner, w/h the width and height.

curl -X PUT "https://featuredchannels.furious.pro/api/boxes/<token>?mode=both" -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '[{"login":"aurora_plays","x":5,"y":10,"w":20,"h":20},
       {"login":"pixelpanda","x":75,"y":10,"w":20,"h":20}]'

Up to 12 boxes. PUT replaces them all (send [] to remove them), GET reads them, and the optional mode (list, hotspots or both) sets what the overlay shows. Viewers see the change instantly. Details and a try-it form are in the API reference.

Languages

Viewers see the extension in their Twitch language: English, Portuguese, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Turkish and Polish. The settings page is in English, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, German and French. Chatbot replies are in English.

Troubleshooting

The overlay doesn't show

The video overlay only appears while a viewer hovers the player, and only while you're live. Make sure it's activated as an overlay in your Creator Dashboard. With Pro, use Show for 30 s to test it.

The chatbot says the link is invalid

The link was regenerated, or copied incompletely. Copy the command again from the Chatbot tab.

Pro shows as locked after subscribing

Click Check again in the settings. The subscription must be on the account of the channel where the extension is installed.

My colors or font don't show for viewers

The custom theme and fonts are Pro. Without Pro, viewers get the Twitch look. Also check that you clicked Save changes; the preview updates before saving.
